What Can I Expect At Each Sunday Service?

We are blessed to have two weekly worship services at First Lutheran, one at 9:00am and a second at 11:15am.

The 9:00am service is a traditional liturgical Lutheran service as found in the synod’s hymnal, the “Lutheran Service Book.” What does this mean?  We follow a beautiful liturgy (words of the service) where God speaks to us in His words and we answer back in His words. The service is made complete with img_29121-300x225ornate hymns from our Lutheran heritage and choral pieces sung by our choir, all accompanied by pipe organ. Music has always been an important part of the worship service and it is alive and well at First Lutheran.

The 11:15am service is a blended service whereas we still use the beautiful liturgy but in a different style of music. In the 11:15am  service we use a contemporary blend of music complete with guitar, piano, flute and vocal group.

Which every service you choose to come to, we can promise you that you will be warmly greeted by people who are truly glad you came. You will feel a closeness to those in the pews with you and most importantly, you will feel the love of your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will be thankful to God that you came, and pray that we will see you again!

picWhat About Communion?

The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on every Sunday of the month in both Sunday services. We do so in the confession and glad confidence that our Lord, as He says, gives not only bread and wine, but also His very body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of our sins. In joyful obedience to the clear teaching of our Lord Jesus, those are invited to His table that trust His words, repent of all sin and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us.

Because Holy Communion is also a confession of the faith which is confessed at our altar, any who are not yet instructed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, doubt as to the Supper’s meaning or who hold a confession differing from that of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod are asked to speak with Pastor Bessette prior to the worship service should they desire to commune. If our confession differs, you are welcome to come to the Lord’s table and receive a baptismal blessing from Pastor by merely crossing your arms in front of you at the communion rail.

Children’s bulletins, books, coloring books and crayons are available for anyone with small children to use during the worship service. You can find them at the entrances of the church. Please help yourself! In addition each service features a Children’s message by Pastor Bessette where children are welcomed to come up to the altar for an interactive and engaging lesson during our Sunday services.

Every Wednesday is a very special time of the week for all our school children, teachers, principal and pastor as we gather to sing songs, hear scripture, and enjoy a hands on Bible message, all to the glory of God. Pastor Bessette loves this time of the week. Many times the children themselves play instruments, sing songs and participate in the message that pastor has planned. Everyone is welcome to join us!
